Located in an exceptional setting, facing the sea and a few dozen meters from the Marine Reserve of Banyuls-Cerberus, the Aquarium of Banyuls-sur-Mer is part of the Oceanological Observatory which is a showcase for the general public since 1885. This aquarium is the historical aspect of marine Biodiversarium invites you to dive out of time to explore the marine biodiversity of the Eastern Pyrenees. Essentially turned towards the presentation of the fauna and flora of local marine, it is the oldest structure of its kind on the French Mediterranean coast. Over 200 species of plants, marine invertebrates and fish, all from the Eastern Pyrenees, are presented within forty basins. Organized like a walk over our coast, the tour allows visitors to discover the richness of our coast and its diversity. You discover the surprisingly complex but also very fragile and the ecological role of certain habitats such as coastal lakes, the Posidonia meadows or the coralligenous. The different basins, and illustrated richly populated many informative panels allow you to discover the diversity of life and often amazing adaptations that marine animals can grow to survive. A proposed new aquarium is being developed. This aquarium, always dedicated to the presentation of Mediterranean biodiversity and research developed by the Oceanology Observatory will open its doors in 2014.

Where to finde the aquarium:

I don't have any guides of this aquarium. Does any body know if they made any guides? And where I can get those?

In the years 1910, 1935, 1960, 1985 and 2010 they had theire anniversarrys. Have they made any books on this occassion?
